Questions parents should ask coaches before tryouts

  • How many players are aging out, and how many true roster spots are realistically open at my Player’s position?
  • How many returning veterans and affiliate players are already expected to fill the lineup?
  • What role do you realistically see for my Player in the first month of the season?
  • How do you communicate feedback: daily, weekly, by video, or only at key checkpoints?
  • Who handles NCAA communication and Player promotion to higher levels?
  • If my Player is not in the lineup early, what is the development plan?
  • How does the club manage billets, school coordination, and transportation for out-of-town players?
