Partnership to provide personalized online education solution for AJHL athletes
The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and South Alberta High School have formed an educational partnership which will provide students with high school programming and dual credit post-secondary classes through online learning. The student-athlete centered programming will promote high school graduation, advance post-secondary aspirations, and offer personalized education solutions.
South Alberta High School offers virtual courses with classroom-level quality that cover core subjects and engaging CTS classes, as well as dual credit University and College courses. The personalized anytime / anywhere access to instruction by qualified teachers, and backed by tutorials and supplementary materials, ensures student success.
The new educational partnership will provide flexible high school educational services to AJHL student athletes and an opportunity for high school graduates to take dual credit post-secondary courses through Medicine Hat College, Olds College, Lethbridge College, SAIT, Mount Royal University and Lakeland College.
Director of Enhanced Programming for Prairie Rose Public Schools, Darren MacMillan shares, “We strive to provide flexible and responsive education pathways that exceed expectations and increase future opportunities. South Alberta High School has been proven to be valuable resource for students pursuing ambitious athletic goals including players from the WHL (Western Hockey League), AJHL and U18.”
“The AJHL offers elite hockey players the opportunity to reach their full potential both on and off the ice, by providing an ideal environment to develop as a hockey player, while not compromising their academic goals,” said AJHL Commissioner Ryan Bartoshyk. “This new partnership will be a valuable resource for players and their families to make a seamless transition in their path to graduation or pursuit of post-secondary education.”
