FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What separates Ice Exposure from other companies?
Our staff’s hockey backgrounds tend to separate us from the rest of the pack. We only hire personnel who have worked in prestigious hockey positions prior to joining our team. Furthermore, we have a diverse group of hockey people who have worked in such leagues as the CHL, NCAA, CJHL and for renowned sports media outlets.
What is the main purpose of hiring an advisor?
Similar to hiring a lawyer before going to court, it’s important to have an informed representative looking out for your best interests in hockey. Our goal as a company is to empower our clients to achieve their hockey goals on and off the ice. This includes using our connections, expertise and experience to find opportunities while educating the player on the pros and cons of each situation.
Does Ice Exposure recommend the Major Junior or NCAA route?
We believe both the Major Junior and NCAA have their pros and cons. We do not favour one route over the other and work with our players to find the best route for their career.
Can I lose my NCAA eligibility by hiring an advisor?
No, you can not lose your NCAA eligibility due to hiring an advisor. Amateur athletes can hire advisors for educating and guiding them through their hockey journey.
How does Ice Exposure educate its clients on the NCAA?
We have created an NCAA guide for our clients. It includes all the need-to-know information on preparing for the NCAA. We also have the experience of helping numerous players advance to the NCAA. Our company has accumulated a wealth of contacts throughout the NCAA and NCAA-development leagues like the USHL and CJHL.
What is Ice Exposure’s stance on social media?
Unless a player has told us he is not interested in the NCAA or has signed a Major Junior card, we follow the NCAA’s guidelines on social media. We have been informed by the NCAA that players are not allowed to hire companies to market their abilities on social media platforms. Therefore, we can not have an outward portrayal as a company that markets on social media.
What is the average age of a player who hires an advisor?
Most players are hiring advisors during their 15-year-old or 16-year-old seasons. Some players hire an advisor as early as their second year of bantam due to the WHL bantam draft.
What is Ice Exposure’s stance on confidentiality?
We let each player dictate how our relationship is conducted. Some players offer testimonials and are open about our player advisor relationship. Other players prefer to keep our relationship behind closed doors.
