The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund was created in response to the many families experiencing financial challenges. The goal of the Fund is to help Canadian youth access hockey and play the game they love.

The Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association. For the 2025-26 season, the Assist Fund commits to providing $1 million/2,000 assists to kids across Canada to help them access hockey.

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund will be open to receive applications starting August 1, 2025, and will remain opened until $1 million of assists have been accepted. Only applications that are submitted with sufficient documentation will be processed and all applications will be assessed on a first come, first served basis. Once this limit has been reached, the Assist Fund application portal will be closed, and no further applications will be accepted for the remainder of the season. In addition, any applications which were submitted but were not assessed prior to the limit being reached will not be approved, regardless of whether they would have otherwise met HCF’s eligibility criteria.

It is also aware that emerging trends and challenges are affecting participation in our national sport. Canada is becoming increasingly diverse and many new Canadians are not naturally drawn to the game. The more technology becomes ingrained in our lives, the more sedentary Canadians become.

The Hockey Canada Foundation knows how to address these challenges. The Foundation has developed a bold plan for the future to ensure hockey remains a strong and vital element of Canadian culture.

Our plan begins with a vision of the critical role that hockey plays in Canadian society, and establishes the Hockey Canada Foundation as responsible for its continued vitality and growth.

The Foundation accepts donations for the purpose of establishing and growing a selection of endowment and general-purpose Funds. Caring Canadians who want to give back to the game can now do so knowing their gift to the game will have an impact for generations to come. Working with the Hockey Canada team, the Foundation puts gifts to work to help ensure Canada remains at the forefront in the development and promotion of amateur hockey.
