Former Ontario Junior Hockey League coach Connor Cadaret has been added to the staff of the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League.

Cadaret, 31, is joining the Colts from the Collingwood Blues (OJHL) where he held the Associate Coach title this past season.

Cadaret will join the Colts as an Assistant Coach, responsible for being the team’s eyes in the sky.

This past season Cadaret helped Collingwood capture the Centennial Cup national Junior A championship.

“I am extremely grateful for my time with the Collingwood Blues,” Cadaret said on the Blues website. “The championship bond formed with the players and staff cannot be taken away, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of Collingwood.”

“Connor made a positive impact on our hockey program in the one year he was with the Blues,” said Collingwood General Manager Mike Tarantino.“He brought a great work ethic and strong hockey knowledge to the rink, did a great job running our defence and power play.  The Blues wish Connor all the best with Barrie. We look forward to seeing him back at Eddie Bush to present him his Centennial Cup ring.”

Cadaret has previous coaching experience in the OJHL with the Stouffville Spirit and Cobourg Cougars. He also coached minor hockey in his native Stouffville.

“We’re excited that Connor has decided to join us here in Barrie after helping Collingwood to a national championship. Connor is a bright hockey mind who we look forward to welcoming to our city and team,” said Barrie Head Coach and GM Marty Williamson.

Williamson is entering his 16th season as a head coach in the OHL. Williamson has coached in 1,020 games, including 561 wins. Williamson currently sits as the seventh most winningest coach in the history of the OHL.

Before making the jump to the OHL, Williamson had a long and successful coaching career in the OJHL, including leading the Aurora Tigers to a national championship in 2004.

Former OJHL player (Mississauga, Newmarket, Stouffville, Milton) and coach (Pickering) Phil Barski left Barrie as associate coach earlier this year. He was named head coach and GM of the new ECHL franchise in Bloomington, Illinois May 30.
