The history of Quartexx
IMPORTANT MILESTONES 2014
The beginning
The foundation for Quartexx began in 2014 with the completion of Hockey Etcetera, Lino A. Saputo’s family rink in Montreal. With what started as a passion project for Lino and his family, quickly turned into a business venture, as an opportunity arose to develop a hockey agency, establishing Quartexx Management.
2015
Quartexx established
Quartexx was formally established in 2015 when Lino and partners began the process of bringing a family-oriented agency to the hockey world. It had always been Lino’s vision to build an agency that goes beyond contract negotiations by ultimately offering incomparable services within the agency market. Our boutique-style agency creates personal connections between our clients and agents, while taking care of all aspects of life.
2016
Quartexx merges with MFive Sports
Shortly after the emergence of Quartexx Management, our agency expanded through the merger with MFive Sports in 2016, headed by Kent Hughes and Anton Thun. Kent and Anton bring over 30 years of experience to the agency. Since starting MFive in 1983, they have been through many historic events and changes in the hockey and business world, which equips them with expert knowledge and experience. Kent and Anton helped Quartexx develop into the agency it is today through their experience and reputation as being industry leading agents. As of January 2022, Kent has moved on from Quartexx and is currently the new General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens. He has been a great mentor to the entire team.
2019
Quartexx merges with DHG Sports Agency
In the summer of 2019, Quartexx Management completed another merger, this time with Darren Ferris’ DHG Sports Agency. Along with Darren’s impressive client list, his personal approach as an agent fit the Quartexx model seamlessly. Having Darren on board brings a new dynamic and added expertise to the already reputable team at Quartexx.
2023
Women’s hockey division
In February 2023, Quartexx announced the launch of its new Women’s Hockey Division led by professional hockey player Karell Emard, and offering services tailored specifically to the needs of top female athletes.

Player development
We pride ourselves on using our years of experience in the industry and the game itself to advise both players and their families on reaching their playing career goals. Our staff assists with off-ice training, nutrition, skill development, individual video analysis, and draft preparation at various levels. Each summer, our clients convene at our annual Quartexx Development Camp where we dive into all the on- and off-ice components that drive success as a hockey player.
