A New Era for Roller Hockey in Canada 🇨🇦
Roller Hockey Canada is proud to announce a landmark merger as Canada Inline officially joins Roller Hockey Canada.
This is far more than an organizational change — it represents a unified vision and a major leap forward for the future of roller hockey and inline hockey across Canada.
As the sport continues to grow internationally, this merger positions Canada to create stronger athlete pathways, improve national organization, and expand opportunities for players from grassroots participation all the way to elite international competition.
By bringing these organizations together, we are:
• Strengthening athlete development pathways from youth programs to Team Canada opportunities
• Expanding Canada’s international representation through World Skate competition
• Creating a more sustainable and inclusive future aligned with the Canadian Sport Policy
• Building one stronger national voice for roller hockey and inline hockey across the country
• Supporting the continued growth of leagues, tournaments, clubs, officials, and player development initiatives nationwide
🏒 What Is Roller Hockey and Inline Hockey?
Roller hockey and inline hockey are among the fastest-growing forms of hockey worldwide. Played on sport courts or specialized surfaces using inline skates, the game combines the speed, skill, creativity, and excitement of traditional hockey with a fast-paced international style of play.
Inline hockey emphasizes:
• Speed and puck control
• Creativity and offensive skill
• High-tempo transitions
• Advanced skating development
• International competition opportunities
Across North America and Europe, roller hockey continues to see major participation growth among youth athletes, elite players, recreational leagues, and international federations.
Many ice hockey players also use inline hockey during the offseason to improve skating, puck handling, hockey IQ, conditioning, and creativity in open ice situations.
🌎 Growing the International Game
This merger also strengthens Canada’s role within the global roller hockey community through World Skate competition and international development initiatives.
The unified structure will help improve:
• National team development
• International event participation
• Coaching and officiating support
• Long-term athlete development models
• Grassroots growth and accessibility for new players and families
As Roller Hockey Canada President Dave Sehn explains:
“This is about building something truly representative of the sport’s future in this country. We are better as one united team.”
We would also like to recognize and thank Meka Trepanier for his tremendous leadership and dedication to advancing the international pathway for Canadian athletes. We are excited to officially welcome him to the Roller Hockey Canada team as we move forward together.
This merger represents a commitment to collaboration, athlete opportunity, innovation, and long-term growth for the sport across Canada.
Together, we are building the next era of Canadian roller hockey.
One Team – Vision – Future.
