Toronto, ON — The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) is proud to announce the launch of the first phase of the Parent Information Centre (PIC), a new initiative designed to empower parents with the information, tools, and community support they need to guide their children through the youth Hockey experience confidently. Additional phases will be rolled out in the coming months and years as more organizations populate the platform.
The PIC – a free, digital resource – strives to engage a new generation of families, provide ongoing support to current Hockey families, while marketing the game of Hockey — and GTHL programs — in a way that is transparent, inclusive, and accessible. As parents play a central role in selecting programs that align with their child’s needs and family values, the PIC provides a centralized, structured hub of program-specific information to help families make informed decisions.
The PIC allows GTHL Member organizations to showcase their offerings — including program location, schedule, coaching philosophies, community values, and success stories — to families exploring entry points to minor Hockey. There is no cost to GTHL organizations to participate or to families to access the information.
Families can access the PIC here:https://pic.gthlcanada.com/.
“The PIC represents a proactive step toward educating and engaging new families, while supporting our existing participants,” said Scott Oakman, GTHL Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. “The GTHL is focused on continuing to build trust, transparency, and stronger community connections that support the overall development of young athletes — both on and off the ice.”
What does the PIC offer families?
Geographic Convenience: Families can find programs near home that meet their logistical needs and align with their values.
Program Insights: GTHL organizations can outline schedules and philosophies to help families find the right cultural and developmental fit.
Storytelling & Legacy: GTHL organizations can highlight their community contributions, history, and alumni success stories, bringing the spirit of hockey to life.
Parent Education: The PIC strives to foster an informed parent community by offering guidance on program-specific details and values.
Coming for the 2026–27 Season: Phase Two Roll-Out
While the initial phase of the PIC is focused on education, promotion, and accessibility, the GTHL will introduce financial program details — including costs — as part of Phase Two in the 2026–27 season. The addition of Phase Two is a necessary step to further the GTHL’s mission of continuing to build trust, transparency, and stronger community connections around perceived financial barriers to Hockey, and to offer honest and relatable insights into program affordability.
