The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) has released the schedule for the 2024 Exhibition Season and 2024-25 Regular Season. The regular season will open with all 12 teams in action on Friday, September 13th following a 35-game exhibition season which begins August 24th, 2024.
The AJHL has restructured as two divisions for the 2024-25 season – the Viterra AJHL North Division and Viterra AJHL South Division. The regular season will feature a 54-game schedule for each team, including four games versus each member of the opposite division and six games against teams within the division, as well as two games at the AJHL Showcase.
The 2024 AJHL Showcase will be held from September 25th-27th and include 12 regular season games. The annual showcase draws coaches and scouts from the National Hockey League, NCAA, Canadian colleges and universities and the Canadian Hockey League. A complete schedule and host location will be announced shortly!
In addition to the annual AJHL Showcase, the Alberta Junior Hockey League and its member teams will also play host to national and international events in the 2024-25 season. Watch for updates on the AJHL website throughout the off-season for more details on these exciting announcements!
The 2025 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Playoffs will see the top four teams in each division battle for the title of Division Champion. The South Division Champion and North Division Champion will then compete in the 2025 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Final. Each series will be a best-of-seven with the highest placed seed playing the lowest placed seed in the division. The 2025 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Playoffs begin Friday, March 21st.
The AJHL will announce major changes in several categories later this month, including playing rules which will directly benefit the players, prospects, coaches and game officials by providing consistency and improvement to the standard of play across Junior hockey.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League will continue its pilot program for video goal review at select AJHL arenas across the province in the 2024-25 season. The project will be reviewed at the conclusion of the season for the purpose of expanding the program league-wide.
