CHIPPEWA STEEL 2024 COACHES CAMPS PRIOR TO NAHL DRAFT
What is a Coaches Camp?
The Coaches Camp is designed for players interested in being drafted into the NAHL. These Coaches Camps are the best way to get in front of multiple NAHL teams and maximize ice time and exposure.
Who is eligible for the Coaches Camps?
Players born between 2004-2008 (16 to 20 years old) are encouraged to attend a Coaches Camps.

What is the cost of a Coaches Camp?
The Michigan and Minnesota Camps are $550. Las Vegas is $595.
Who else will be attending these Summer Tryout Showcases?
In addition to the Chippewa Steel, the following teams will be in attendance and scouting players at the individual camps:
- Michigan: Austin Bruins, Fairbanks Ice Dogs, St. Cloud Norsemen and Johnstown Tomahawks.
- Minnesota: Austin Bruins, St. Cloud Norsemen and Minnesota Wilderness.
- Las Vegas: Austin Bruins, Minnesota Wilderness and St. Cloud Norsemen.

HOCKEY OPERATIONS
Ratzloff is in his first season with the Chippewa Steel. Coming off his fourth season with the Rochester Grizzlies of the NA3HL, he led the Grizzlies to four straight Central Division titles, two straight Fraser Cup Finals, along with a Fraser Cup championship in the 2021-22 season. He was also named the NA3HL Coach of the year for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Before his time with the Grizzlies, Ratzloff spent seven seasons with his alma mater as an assistant coach at John Marshall High School and then two seasons as an assistant coach with the Girl’s Hockey team for Rochester Lourdes.
Before his coaching career begin, Ratzloff played one season in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers posting 25 points in 44 games. He then went on to play four seasons at the Division 3 level at the University of Wisconsin River Falls.

ASSISTANT COACH – STEVE DOUGHERTY
Dougherty has been coaching professionally for the past twelve years. He most recently was an assistant coach for the Walpole Express. Prior to coaching, he played his youth hockey in New Jersey and eventually worked his way up to play juniors in British Columbia, Canada.
“I really enjoy being a part of the player development process and moving players on to the next level,” Dougherty said. “I’m really excited to join such a well-rounded staff and can’t wait to get the season underway.”
GOALIE COACH – DAN HOEHNE
Hoehne joined the staff with a plethora of hockey experience specifically in goaltending for the 2021-22 season. He began coaching career in 2005 at Stauber’s Goalcrease where he worked his way up to a Lead Instructor in 2012. Since then, Hoehne has only gained more experience. Since 2015, Hoehne has been a goalie coach with Attitude Goaltending. Since 2016, he’s worked with goalies in the Breakaway Bucks AAA program. And most recently he was an assistant coach/goalie coach with Chanhassen HS.
“I’m really excited to be a part of this great organization,” he said. “My goal is to help develop and mentor the young goalies we bring in.”
ASSISTANT GM – BRANDON FERNS
Brandon enters the 23-24 season as his Third with the Chippewa Steel. He was previously working as the Minnesota scout for the St. Cloud Norsemen under Coach Casey Mignone. Besides scouting for the Steel, Brandon is also the Minnesota scout for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL, and is an assistant coach for Shakopee High School located in the Twin Cities. Brandon is excited to continue his work for the Steel and says “the staff’s relentless work ethic to recruit, develop, and move players on is why this is a no brainer for me to work this team.”

ASSISTANT GM/DIRECTOR OF SCOUTING – STEVE WILLIAMS
Steve enters his third season with the Steel. In addition to his work with the Steel, Steve serves an Assistant Coach with the New Jersey Rockets U18 Program. Prior to joining the Steel staff, he worked as a Scout with the St. Cloud Norsemen in the NAHL (2020-2021).
Steve hails from Sparta, NJ and grew up playing youth and collegiate hockey on the east coast. He played his Jr. Hockey with the Cobourg Cougars in the OJHL before moving to the collegiate ranks at SUNY-Morrisville. Steve currently resides in West Chester, PA with his wife Chrissy and two sons, Carter and Mason.

PRESIDENT – KELLY KASIK
Kelly Kasik grew up in Silicon Valley where she went to school and started her Real Estate Career. She recently moved to Colorado so her son can play hockey with the Colorado Thunderbirds organization. She has a business management degree from Menlo College and has been an active Real Estate Investor and Agent for the last 18 years.
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS – JOEY ERICKSON
Joey is joining the Chippewa Steel for his very first season! Born and raised in Dallas, Texas he then attended St. Cloud State University in Minnesota where he pursued his passion for broadcasting. During his four years in St. Cloud, Joey did play-by-play and color for a variety of sports including Men’s and Women’s Hockey, Baseball, Volleyball, Basketball and Boy’s and Girl’s Hockey for the St. Cloud Crush. After graduating, he went back home to Dallas and started a job in sports talk radio as a Producer for the Home of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers 105.3 The Fan. After a year there, he was ready to jump back in to play-by play and will be the new “Voice of the Steel.”
