HOCKEY OFFICE
Keith Primeau – Vice President of Hockey Operations
Keith is a former NHL player who spent 15 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers. Drafted 3rd overall in 1990, Keith played in two NHL All-Star games and finished his career as captain of the Philadelphia Flyers. Mr. Primeau is also the President of Hockey Operations for the Black Bears’ USHL affiliate, the Youngstown Phantoms.
Murry Gunty – Chief Executive Officer of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc.
Murry is the founder and CEO of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc., the Black Bears’ majority ownership group.
Mr. Gunty grew up in Portland, Maine, where he spent countless hours playing hockey and watching the former Maine Mariners of the American Hockey League. A lifelong hockey fan, Gunty has coached and managed his sons’ AA and AAA hockey teams from Mite through Bantam and is passionate about growing the game.
Leveraging over thirty years of turnaround experience, Gunty’s passion for the sport of hockey has brought professional management to the rink industry, turning around poorly run facilities and investing sorely needed capital in twenty to thirty year old rinks, thereby saving them for their respective communities.
Ryan Scott – Vice President of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc.
Ryan Scott is Vice President of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc., the Black Bears’ majority ownership group, focused on acquisitions, team management and facility operations. Prior to joining Black Bear Sports Group, Mr. Scott was an Associate at Blackstreet Capital Management.
Mr. Scott graduated from Williams College with a Bachelors of Liberal Arts Degree in Political Science and Leadership Studies and captained the Varsity hockey team as a defenseman. Prior to college, Mr. Scott played in the USHL for the Indiana Ice from 2005-2007 and won a Clark Cup Championship with the Omaha Lancers in 2008.
COACHES/HOCKEY STAFF
Clint Mylymok – Head Coach & General Manager
Clint Mylymok is the club’s first head coach and general manager. Previously, Mylymok was the head coach and general manager of the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for four seasons.
Mylymok brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience to the Black Bears organization. Throughout his junior hockey coaching career, Mylymok has consistently developed players for the next level, advancing players to Canadian Major Junior and NCAA Division I. Coach Mylymok has also held various positions for Hockey Canada select teams including Head Coach of Team Saskatchewan U-16’s and as a scout for Team Canada U-17’s.
SAM SHAHEEN – ASSISTANT COACH
Sam began his coaching career in 2014, at only 18 years of age. That first season, he was with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies AAA program, as well as Grosse Pointe South High School in Michigan, where he developed a future Division 1 talent in Adam Pitters. In 2020, Sam took his first Junior Hockey job, with the USPHL’s Detroit Fighting Irish. He took a program with 12 wins the previous season to a 20-win season. The following year, Sam brought the program to 23 wins, the highest since the 2015-2016 season. Sam made the jump to the newly branded Motor City Gamblers for the 2022-2023 season. In that year, the Gamblers finished with a total of 29 wins between the regular and postseason; the most since the 2014-2015 season. He also led the team through a 14-game win streak from January through March. Sam’s excellent motivation and player recruiting skills help him quickly turn around programs and turn them into winners. As a player, Sam played for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Macomb Dakota High School, before making the jump to Junior Hockey, where he played for the New York Aviators. Sam won the USPHL National Championship with the Aviators in the 2013-2014 season, showing that Sam has played a large role in building winning cultures on and off the ice, both as a player and coach.
RUSSELL SMITH – ASSISTANT COACH
Annapolis native Russell Smith returned to the Maryland area in 2011 following a four year professional career. He spent nine years as the Hockey Director of the Tri-City Eagles before joining Team Maryland in 2020 where he has coached the 2007 and 2010 birth years. Russell currently resides in Davidsonville with his wife and two daughters.
Russell specializes in the skill development of forwards and defensemen. Having played both positions professionally, he has intimate knowledge of the skill sets required for each position. To help shape a complete player; Russell focuses on game application of skills, the development of a full skill set, promoting situational awareness, along with tactics to succeed in various game situations. He helps players develop an understanding of the game, and the intricacies that are involved as they move to the next level of their careers. Through his fifteen years of coaching Russell has had the pleasure of working with and developing players, to include: members of USA Hockey’s Women’s National Team, NHL draft picks, Professionals, NCAA, ACHA, USHL, NAHL, and many others.
PETER LEBOUTILLIER – LEADERSHIP COACH
Pete has played at the highest level hockey offers these players (NHL) and we look forward to having him join our staff this season. He truly cares about the development of our players, on and off the ice, and will be able to share his experiences of what it takes to play at the highest level. He is an asset to the hockey community in Maryland, and only cares about helping kids attain their goals.
RYAN KOSECKI – ASSISTANT GM, SCOUT
Ryan Kosecki has years of experience in the NAHL going all the way back to his playing days with the Soo Indians from 1996-1998. Ryan has spent the last two seasons coaching in the USHL with Muskegon and is currently the Head Coach for the Fox Motors ’05 AAA team. Kosecki is also the current Hockey Director for TPH Grand Rapids. He lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his wife, Megan and his two sons, Cooper and Harrison. This is Ryan’s first season with the Black Bears.
MIKE DONNELLAN – PLAYER PERFORMANCE COACH
Mike Donnellan, from Baltimore, MD, is a former Prep, Jr A, Div 1 NCAA and Pro player. He played youth hockey in the Baltimore/DC metro area before attending Vermont Academy for high school where he played all four years at the varsity level. In his senior year, he led his team to the New England Prep Championship as team captain & was awarded All New England honors.
After Prep School, Mike played two years of Junior A Hockey in the EJHL (now USPHL) for the Green Mountain Glades in Burlington, VT and was named a League All Star his 2nd season. He committed to play Division I hockey for UMass-Amherst in the Hockey East Conference. At UMass, Mike played alongside several current NHL players including Winger Connor Sheary and Defensemen Matt Irwin from the Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers Defensemen Justin Braun, and Dallas Stars Defensemen Joel Hanley to name a few.
Mike played professionally on six teams in multiple leagues including the East Coast Hockey League and Southern Professional Hockey League where was the Captain of the Evansville Thunderbolts. In 2016 he was invited to the NHL’s Nashville Predators Main Training Camp, where he competed against some of the top players in the world.
Mike is the U15 Head Coach and Mental Performance Coach at Team Maryland. In the recent Black Bear Sports Group acquisition of Team Maryland, Mike was promoted to Director of Operations and U16 Head Coach.
ADAM DAVIS – EQUIPMENT MANAGER
Adam is a Maryland Native, having grown up in Columbia, MD. Adam is a lifelong hockey fan and began playing hockey at 8 years of age. He played for Metro Maple Leafs before switching to the Howard huskies hockey club. Adam also played on the State Championship Atholton Raiders high school team. He attended East Carolina University where he graduated with a B.S. in University Studies as well as playing on their D3 Club team. Adam began working with the Maryland Black Bears during the 2022-2023 season.
ROB BRODERICK – HEAD SCOUT
Rob Broderick is the General Manager of the Mercer Chiefs hockey program and Ice Land Arena. Prior to his role with the Chiefs, Rob had served as President of the New Jersey Rockets, Managing Director of the Midget Program and Head Coach of U18 team for 14 years. He was the U.S. Scout for Ottawa Junior Senators in the CCHL for last 5 years.
Rob was drafted by and played for the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL and he was captain of his ECAC hockey team his junior and senior years at SUNY Potsdam. Over the past fourteen seasons, his teams have averaged thirty wins per regular season and have made the playoffs every season in the AYHL and USPHL. Prior to joining the NJ Rockets, Rob was the head coach of Team Carolina, with that team being the first in the organization’s history to win the AAA Regionals.
JASON WOLFE – GOALIE COACH/SCOUT
Jason Wolfe is the first Maryland-born goaltender to play in the professional ranks. Jason graduated with honors from Merrimack College with degrees in Psychology and Business Administration. After graduation, Jason immediately turned to the pro rank by signing with the LA Kings affiliate, the Reading Royals. Jason spent 8 years in the professional hockey playing in the LA Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, and Anaheim Ducks organizations, as well as playing one season for Manchester England in the English Elite League. Upon retirement, he founded Wolfe Hockey Development consisting of two “real ice” training centers and moving on over 100 regional players on to the college and pro ranks. Wolfe also serves as a Goalie Coach to Team Maryland EHL and a scout for the Youngstown Phantoms.
JEREMY DALLOW – SCOUT AND DIRECTOR OF CAMPS
Jeremy is the Founder and President of SuperSeries AAA which is one of the largest operators of elite hockey tournament and showcases for 8 to 18 year-olds in North America. NHL players such as Clayton Keller, Matthew Tkachuk, Logan Brown and Victor Mete have all participated in SuperSeries events as well as countless players playing NCAA hockey and players currently in the USHL and NAHL. Additionally, Jeremy operates DHI Hockey, a subsidiary of SuperSeries which operates Elite Spring teams that travel to the top tournaments in North America and Europe. Jeremy is also the Vice President of the Black Bears’ USHL affiliate, the Youngstown Phantoms, Executive Director of the Jersey Shore Wildcats Hockey Club and holds an advisory role with the Mercer Chiefs AAA Hockey Club and Black Bear Sports Group, Inc.
CLIFF GRAZIANO – SCOUT
Coach Cliff Graziano graduated played four seasons of hockey at Penn State and graduated in 1995. After graduation, he received a tryout in the Detroit Red Wings Association and went on to play briefly with the Red Wings’ affiliate, the Jacksonville Bullets.
Coach Graziano has been coaching hockey since 1995. He is a USA Hockey certified Advanced Level 4 coach and is in the process of attaining the Level 5 Masters certification.
TIM CHASE – SCOUT
Tim Chase is a scout based out of the Princeton, NJ area and General Manager for the New Jersey Stars youth hockey club. Hailing from Michigan, Tim won a New England Prep School Championship with Tabor Academy and was drafted in the 7th round of the 1988 NHL draft by the Montreal Canadians. After Tabor, he went on to play at Brown University for 4 seasons. He then signed with Montreal halfway through his senior year and played 6 seasons in the AHL, IHL, ECHL and briefly in Europe.
After hockey, he began a career in business as a trader at various hedge funds from 2000 to 2017. In 2017 he left the trading business to become the Director of Hockey at Pro Skate and GM of the NJ Stars travel hockey organization.
CHRIS BARCLESS – SCOUT, MERCER CHIEFS DIRECTOR
Chris Barcless is Mercer Chief’s Hockey Director and U16 National Coach. Chris is a USA Hockey Level 5 certified coach who boasts 18 years as a AAA boy’s hockey coach and is a well-known instructor. Chris most recently was the head coach of Pee Wee Minor, Bantam Minor, and U16 National teams. His teams have participated in the national championship tournament four times since 2000 and he has also served as head coach at Hightstown High School and Princeton Day School capturing eight State championships. Chris’ playing experience includes the Little Flyers and Rockets Youth, New Hampton Prep, Geneseo State University, where he was captain of the Ice Knights, and professionally in Europe. Chris is a lead instructor for Learn To Play and skills development clinics at Iceland.
AUSTIN LUBOFF – SCOUT
Austin Luboff joins the Maryland Black Bears’ ranks as a proven scout following his appointment as the National Bound Assistant Coach and Player Personnel Liaison for Team Maryland. Austin’s primary focus will be as the Bantam Assistant Coach but will support the Team Maryland 15U and 16U teams as well as using his expert player judgement for the Maryland Black Bears. Austin joins Team Maryland from the Florida Alliance midget program. Austin has also been a scout for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League for the past 5 years and will remain a Steelheads scout while at Team Maryland providing further opportunities for advancement for the players.
