(TEAM) PREP Le Sommet International Hockey Academy

INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY ACADEMY

The Sommet International Hockey Academy is a comprehensive program that combines hockey and education to allow players to excel in both disciplines and ensure a smooth transition to university. The team is made up of elite players internationally, nationally and locally.

The program offers

36 intense weeks of hockey (training and games)

  • a staff of elite coaches and experienced teachers who are committed to student success;
  • increased visibility promoting junior and university scouting, both Canadian and American;
  • a power and conditioning program;
  • more than 50 hockey games in Canada and the United States;
  • member of the Prep School Hockey Federation (PSHF) league;
  • SAT/ACT test prep courses available.

Le Sommet public secondary school offers students optimal opportunities both at the sporting and academic levels. A unique experience which thus provides him with the maturity necessary for his academic, sporting and daily success: the elements necessary for the transition to university.

About

The team is led by Shawn Anderson, a former NHL player and general manager of the Academy. He is head coach of the Les Faucons team. He works in conjunction with a specialized goaltending coach and an off-ice conditioning coach.

Shawn is also co-owner of the Hawkesbury Junior A Hawks, a club advancing in the Canadian Central Junior Hockey League (CCHL). This league is recognized as one of the best leagues in North America.
Shawn, a former professional hockey player, played for twenty years as a professional player in the NHL, AHL, LIH, in Europe, for Team Canada and the University of Maine. An experienced player at world level, he went from professional hockey player to qualified instructor and the creation of Hockey Specific Training (HST).

Shawn is a Hockey Canada NCCP Advanced Level 1 certified coach, placing him among the elite of educated coaches.

Academic

The Falcons team is an integral part of the school. Members of the Falcons team must attend Le Sommet public high school.

The International Hockey Academy’s academic programs are provided by Le Sommet Public Secondary School, which provides high-quality French-language education, allowing access to a wide choice of English- and French-speaking universities in Canada and the United States. United.

The student-athlete will be supervised by a guidance counselor guiding them through their secondary and post-secondary studies while ensuring they meet the admission requirements of American and Canadian universities.

Hourly

  • regular teaching schedule
  • off-ice training after school hours
  • study sessions with support
  • matches on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays

If the requirements are met, the student will be called for an evaluation of their skills on the ice.

Then during the interview with the school administration, the coach and the guidance counselor, provide a complete academic file (recent report card, progress report and transcript).

Student life is lived daily in an active school, focused on student success.
The school has graduated athletic students of provincial, national and international caliber.
