The NAPHL is coming to you with almost 15 years’ experience in Prep School Hockey. The goal of the NAPHL is to provide prep hockey programs with the best competition and exposure to Canadian and US junior programs along with CIS and NCAA hockey programs. The NAPHL will provide a larger competition pool than participating in localized leagues and create options for North American Prep Schools to play a variety of opponents. The goal is to provide a Championship for all Prep Schools at the end of each year. The NAPHL will provide its members which will play in a series showcase weekends, culminating with Championship in March.
The goal of the NAPHL is to provide Showcase weekend games and offer a variety of opponents. The NAPHL will focus on U14, U16 and Varsity age groups and try to offer exposure for players to move on to their next level of play in the future.
The NAPHL provides prep programs alternate way to boost their Prep hockey program and substitute for league-play, exhibition games and tournaments against other prep schools. The NAPHL is to provide a competitive environment that is fair, performance driven and promotes the importance of sportsmanship, and safety.
The NAPHL is a quality league that prides itself on providing the best quality games in showcases that they can. With our Showcases in convenient locations, game times and dates the NAPHL really works with the schools to offer the best schedule that accommodates the hockey programs but most importantly the student athlete.
The NAPHL plays for three (3) meaningful trophies with history behind the names. Both the Varsity and U16 Divisions will play for a National Championship trophy as written below.
THE MESTEL CHAMPIONSHIP CUP
VARSITY DIVISION
Moving forward the NAPHL members have all agreed to name the NAPHL Showcase Championship-Varsity Division trophy after Simon Mestel. Simon was a long serving and active member for years in prep school hockey. Simon along with Alex Bezerra joined Blyth Academy for several years and started the Blyth Academy Bruins in Toronto out of Westwood arena. They had two teams for many years under the U18 and U16 divisions. Simon and Alex won a few league championships along the way. Simon was a passionate person and loved the game of hockey. First to the rink and last to leave all the time. Simon while deceased will be remembered by many hockey families, players, and colleagues for his devotion to the game and hard work around the rink.
The Mestel Cup for the Varsity NAPHL Division will be presented in March every year to the National Champions.
THE CONACHER CHAMPIONSHIP CUP
U16 PREP SCHOOL DIVISION
Moving forward the NAPHL members have agreed to name the NAPHL Showcase Championship- U16 Division trophy after David Conacher. Dave was the founder and owner of Wave Hockey which owned hockey and soccer facilities in Burlington Ontario. Dave and Anthony Miele operated one of the only full-ice private rinks in Canada that started in 2001. This business grew to leagues, tournaments, house league, rep and started the first Prep School League 15 years ago which is now the NAPHL. Dave was a visionary in the hockey business and was successful in building private facilities and private hockey.
Dave resides in Burlington, Ontario with his wife Debbie. His four kids all married. Kelin the oldest, Cory (player NHL, Tampa Bay, Ottawa, Buffalo, NY Islanders and played 4 yeas NCAA Canisius College. Calder Cup winner and AHL Play-Off MVP. Still active player is Switzerland), Jaclyn (Brock University), Shane (player AHL Toronto Marlies, ECHL Orlando Polar Bears and NCAA 4 yeas Canisius College). Dave and Debbie spend time see all their children an grandchildren in Southern Ontario and Upper New York.

U14 PREP SCHOOL DIVISION
THe U14 NAPHL Division will be sponsored by one of the leagues Corporate Partners. BioSteel has been a big supporter of the NAPHL and hockey. The goal for all U14 players is to follow in the pathway to Junior hockey and play U16 and or Varsity as their next steps. The NAPHL supports the players in their development and assist them all in moving along in their hockey journey.
