(TEAM) CCHL – Napean Raiders

Coaching Staff

Jerrett DeFazio – Jr A Head Coach, Assistant GM Player Development

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jerrett was a dominant junior hockey player that used his high-end hockey IQ and elite goal scoring abilities to put up eye-popping numbers everywhere he played. After putting up a record-setting 64 goals and 111 points as a 16-year-old in the CCHL with the Ottawa Jr Senators in 1987-88, Jerrett was drafted in the 1st round by the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s. He would go on to put up an impressive 190 points in 183 games under the watchful eye of legendary coach Brian Kilrea.

After graduating from the OHL, Jerrett enjoyed a brief professional career before shifting his focus to his academics, enrolling in and playing for the Saint Mary’s Men’s Varsity hockey team for four seasons. Upon his retirement from playing, he immediately began his coaching career at the USPORTS level with the St Francis Xavier X-Men, where he served as the team’s assistant coach for six years.

Jerrett has experience coaching locally here in Ottawa at every level of hockey. He is currently entering his 6th year with the Raiders organization and the second as the team’s Head Coach, having spent four of those years at the U18AAA level winning back-to-back league championships in 2018-19 & 2021-22. As an HP1 certified coach and regional scout for the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL, Jerrett is undoubtedly one of Ottawa’s top hockey minds, and we are very lucky to have him leading our organization. Welcome back, Jerrett.

Keenan Reynolds – Associate Coach

Entering his 3rd year with the Raiders organization, Keenan has spent the previous two at the U18AAA level where he helped guide his teams to 1st and 3rd place finishes respectively, and an overall record of 75-20-3-3; he also joined the Jr A staff last season on a part-time basis.

Prior to coaching, Keenan played in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack and Flint Firebirds, the CCHL for the Navan Grads and Carleton Place Canadians, & at the USPORTS level with Carleton University. He currently works as a full-time skills development coach and technical skating specialist with Shelley Kettles, the current Technical Skating Coach of the Ottawa Senators.  An HP1-trained coach, Keenan will be counted on to bring a dynamic combination of experience, confidence, and energy to our staff as the team’s Associate Coach. Welcome back, Keenan.

Corey Tam – Assistant Coach

Entering the 1st year of his coaching career, Corey has been named the defensive coach for the Raiders. A former Raider himself, Corey is second all-time in games played for the organization at 253, having served as the team’s captain over his final two years in the CCHL.

He would go on to play for four years at the NCAA D-III’s SUNY Brockport, where he finished his collegiate career as the team’s captain. After graduating with a degree in Exercise Science, Corey enjoyed a brief pro hockey career with the Fayetteville Marksmen of the SPHL prior to moving back home to become a full-time strength & conditioning coach at Body & Mind Athletics in Manotick, Ontario. Corey will be counted upon to help develop and mentor the team’s defense on the ice, while also leading our team’s strength, conditioning, recovery, and nutrition programming. Welcome back, Corey.

Glenn Carley – Goaltending Coach

As a Goaltending Coach I know that I have a tremendous opportunity to be strong role model along with being aware that my impact will be remembered for a lifetime by the athletes I work with.  My coaching approach is athlete-centered with an expectation for development using a balance of the ‘thirst for competition’ while providing all of the athletes with meaningful developmental opportunities. My focus remains to educate, nurture and empower to enhance their personal growth and development.

I started my formal coaching in 2004, acting as “the goalie guy” for many teams in the Ottawa area. I have spent 12+ years at Complete Goaltending Development (CGD) and understand the ever-changing approach to goalie development. My experience has the given me the privilege of 8 seasons and counting in the CCHL Jr A and HEOU18AAA hockey leagues.

Rob McCoy – Athletic Trainer

Rob joins the Raiders organization after spending 2 seasons with the EOJHL’s Carleton Place Jr. B Canadians, where he served as both an assistant coach and video coach. His technical expertise in using video software to identify, break-down, and teach with game clips will be relied upon heavily this year. As a young coach that was also a former junior player, he will also be counted on to help foster strong relationships between players and staff. Welcome to Nepean, Rob.

Ben Seaman – Academic Advisor

Ben comes to the Nepean organization with 25 years of coaching experience under his belt; as a full-time physical education teacher at Immaculata HS, he has spent 20 of those years as the head coach at the high school hockey level, having recently led his school to championships in four out of the previous five years. He also has served as a minor hockey coach with both the Ottawa Sting organization, and as a head instructor for the CHA running hockey schools across the USA & Canada. Ben will be serving as both an assistant coach and the team’s academic advisor, and will be relied upon to help Nepean build a high-achieving team, both on the ice and in the classroom. Welcome to Nepean, Ben.
