King Heights Academy (KHA) has been accepted into the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) as its 27th member for the 2022/23 season as voted by the league’s Board of Governors.
“King Heights Academy is very excited to join the well-known Canadian Sport School Hockey League, as the 27th Hockey Canada Accredited School member. We are looking forward to contributing to the development of “National Leaders in Education-Based Hockey” as per the CSSHL Mission Statement. KHA is excited to showcase our student-athletes through the CSSHL,” said KHA General Manager Doug Orr.
Located just outside of Toronto, ON in Thornhill, ON, King Heights was started 12 years ago as an International Baccalaureate education program. The hockey program and Ministry approved University stream high school has been running for two years. KHA operates out of a 90 000 square foot facility which holds both the academic school, two NHL size arenas, a full gymnasium and cafeteria.
Justin Peca will head coach the team as KHA competes in the CSSHL Eastern Division. After a four-year stint at Michigan Tech University and a lengthy pro career in Europe, Peca has coached at the U15, U18, Junior A, and Major Junior levels.
“Doug and his team have done an incredible job building the hockey program in two short years which will lead to their continued success. We are excited to add another program to the Southern Ontario market as we continue to grow our membership in Eastern Canada,” added Kevin Goodwin, CSSHL Chief Operating Officer.
