(TEAM) NAPHL – Somang Hockey

Word from the President

The 22-23 season is one that is filled with new hopes and aspirations for all, a rebirth after a period of great darkness. A beacon of light in these difficult times, Somang Hockey has since its inception in 2015 established itself as one of the top programs in North America for the development and advancement of players. To further cement this status, Somang plans to next season ice teams at the U14AAA, U16AAA, U18AAA, and Prep Junior levels.

To ensure that our players have the utmost chances of achieving their hockey dreams, our players are on the ice every Monday to Friday, a schedule they keep from September to the end of May. All of which amounts to a whopping 150-200 hours of on-ice training per season under the watchful eye of our Vice President of Player Development and Hockey Operations Francois Landreville and the outstanding staff that has been assembled around him.

Next season, the great majority of Somang teams will play a hectic schedule of 60- 80 games against top-tier opponents from across North America. While our older teams play in the USPHL and the United Tier 1 League featuring some of the very bests programs from the Northeast, our younger teams will also face off against top level opponents. Our older teams are also slated to take part in Beast League and NAPHL events. The remainder of games are played against top programs from the US and Canada. Simply put, we play in some of the best leagues in North America and against the top opponents.

This high number of games (more than any other program in North America) provides our players with the opportunity to not only hone their skills against top tier opponents, but also gives them the chance to enjoy a visibility with scouts and next level programs that few programs enjoy. Moreover, our location ensures that our player are on the radars of coaches from the NCAA and ACHA ranks as the majority of these schools are within five hours from Terrebonne.

This formula has already wielded outstanding results as a great number of our players have signed or received offers from Junior (Junior Major, USHL, USPHL, NA3HL, NAHL, and Junior A) and university teams over the last few years alone. Moreover, we continue to help our players advance even after they have moved on from the program; in other words, once a Somang, always a Somang!

The addition of our PREP team in 21-22 has had the effect of significantly increasing the number of high level players placed, while also giving young players more opportunities to develop at their own pace while keeping our eyes on the ultimate prize, which is access to higher level leagues and programs.

There are also significant developments on the horizon on the educational front as we continue to create the best possible solutions for our players and their families.

With this in mind, I invite you to learn more about the various Somang teams that will hit the ice next season in the next pages. I also look forward to welcoming back our existing players and extending our outstretched hand to new ones

Once a Somang always a Somang!
