David Michaud
President & Governor
David Michaud was named the Bulldogs team president on July 18th, 2019. Michaud is also the president of Keycorp Sports & Entertainment Ltd, the Bulldogs majority owner. Michaud spent parts of 4 seasons with the Penticton Vees and was apart of their 2016-2017 Fred Page Cup championship. Prior to his time with the Vees, Michaud worked with CAA Sports in their hockey division and spent 5 years as the general manager of the Okanagan Rockets. The Rockets won the 2013-2014 BCMML championship, the Pacific Regional Championship, and bronze at the national midget championships, the Telus Cup. Michaud will oversee all hockey and business operations for the Bulldogs.

Joe Martin
Head Coach & General Manager
The 2023-2024 season will be Martin’s 5th behind the Bulldogs bench. Last season Joe led the Bulldogs to their first ever appearance in the Fred Page Cup Championship Final. Martin has also led the Bulldogs to a regular season Coastal Conference pennant (21-22) and was nominated for the coach of the year in the same season. Joe was hired by the Bulldogs following eight seasons in Merritt, the final four as the Head Coach & GM of the Centennials. During the 2018-2019 season, he led the Cents to a second-place finish in the league’s Interior Division and was named the BCHL’s Coach of the Year. He has also been the head coach and Assistant Coach with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge the past three years. Prior to his time with the Bulldogs & Centennials, Joe was the Head Coach of the KIJHL’s Creston Valley Thunder Cats.

Ryan Rehill
Assistant Coach
2023-2024 will be the second season behind the Bulldogs bench for Ryan. A native of Edmonton Alberta, Ryan played 249 games in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers. In 2014, the New Jersey Devils selected Ryan in the 5th round. After graduating from the WHL, Ryan earned his Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. Rehill would appear in 109 games as a Golden Bear.
Luke Betts
Assistant General Manager
Luke joins the Bulldogs staff as the club’s Assistant General Manager. Betts is a well respected individual in the game and operates Luke Betts Hockey in the Lower Mainland. Betts oversees the Bulldogs ID camps and assists Joe Martin with recruiting, talent identification, and in-season scouting activities.

Kyle Shapiro
Head Scout – USA
2023-2024 will mark Kyle’s second season with the Bulldogs. Originally from Philadelphia, Kyle played three years of Tier 3 Jr A hockey winning a national championship with the Helena BigHorns. He then went on to play four years of NCAA hockey at Nichols College where he graduated with a degree in International business and a minor in Marketing.
While at Nichols, Shapiro won Two ECAC Northeast Championships and received awards; AHCA/CCM Men’s All-American,ECAC Northeast Player of the Year, ECAC Northeast All Rookie team, All-New England Team, a three-time recipient of ECAC Northeast All-Academic team, and ECAC Northeast First Team.
After Shapiro’s senior season he signed his first professional contract with the Evansville Icemen of the ECHL while still attending college. He then played five professional seasons, three of those seasons with the Jacksonville Icemen.
Ross Olsson
Scout – USA / Eastern
2023-2024 is Ross’ first with the Bulldogs organization. Ross graduated from Endicott College in Sport Management and MBA in Business Administration. His playing career included 4 year’s in the ECHL/AHL. Ross is currently the Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations at Hillside School in MA

Educational Advisor
Tom is known throughout Junior A hockey as an expert in his field. He has extensive experience working with players to ensure they meet the educational requirements needed to be eligible to play NCAA and CIS hockey.

Darran Chaisson
Team Photographer
Darran is a fully accredited working photographer specializing in commercial and advertising images. Coming into the 4th season as the team photographer, Darran brings a passion for the game and a love for sports photography. Combining these traits with the knowledge of the team’s players and the cohesiveness of how they play together allows him to predict the plays to capture the best images possible for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs for their advertising and marketing images. 2024 ID Camps
2024 Alberni Valley Bulldogs ID Camps:
Attending our Identification Camps is the first step in becoming a Bulldogs player and competing in the BCHL. Our coaching and scouting staff will use this camp to evaluate new talent that will compete to join our team for the upcoming season and to build new relationships with future prospects. The Bulldogs’ current roster features several players who made our team after initially standing out at an Identification Camp. Our organization takes great pride in offering a fun, competitive and educational camp experience.
2024 Port Alberni Bulldogs Spring Identification Camp: Alberni Multiplex – May 10-12th
The camp is open to players born between 2004 and 2009.
The cost to participate in a Spring Identification Camp is $299 + GST.
